Consultant - Developing VSO Resilience Handbook

The objective of the consultancy
- Ensuring existing power point module content focusing on 1. Resilience and Humanitarian Concepts and Principles and how they apply to VSO 2. Resilience Tools and Approaches 3. Preparedness Planning, working alongside resilience content lead, OD manager and VSO communications team.
2.Ensuring the learning and experience from the use of VSO resilience training modules from trainers and trainees captured and represented in VSO resilience handbook;
3.Ensuring case studies are captured to illustrate
Expected Deliverables and Timeline
1) Review VSO resilience training modules and other key documents to understand the modules content and design, VSO tools and approaches, and training strategy;
2) Lead on conversations with Be Capable teams in 9 country offices to capture learning from the use of VSO resilience training modules, case studies to illustrate concepts,
3) Working with resilience advisor, OD learning manager and specialist volunteers, translate module content into a handbook format utilising case studies, facilitation notes and suggestions/ adaptions from country teams.
4) Ensure VSO resilience handbook is branded by supporting from VSO Branding team.
The consultant/firm shall have the following expertise and qualification:
* Proven experience in the development, design and editing of handbooks to support capacity development within a development context.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Fluent/ highly proficient written and spoken English skills
* Experience in humanitarian response and preparedness, climate change, vulnerability reduction assessment, resilience, DRR concepts and practices
* Experience in designing and delivering capacity development/workshops on the concepts listed above, including as Trainer, Training Facilitator or similar role;
* Experience of understanding of working across organisational and project boundaries.
* Having a good understanding of VSO’s way of working and approach to resilience is beneficial but not essential.
