The opportunity

In this role you will provide technical support to the Pan-African Sida supported ‘Integrating Child Protection within the African Peace and Security Architecture’ (ICPAPSA) project and to the Civil – Military Engagement programme with a focus on child rights and child protection training of military, peacekeepers and police in East and West Africa. You will be part of a team responsible for reaching set objectives, ensure alignment, programme synergy and common thematic approaches of the Civil-Military and ICPAPSA programmes. You will further be contributing to the overall development of the thematic area, ensuring that lessons learned are documented, analysed and shared.

Examples of activities in this role:

  • Engage in internal and external Civil-Military coordination, collaboration and advocacy to contribute to the implementation of the strategy globally.

  • Facilitate training sessions on child protection and child rights for armed actors and other relevant groups.

    Initiate and participate in the development of thematic and methodological knowledge, including the responsibility to support the development, monitoring and learning with respect to approved programmes and themes for thought leadership.

  • Support policies, positions and SCS strategy development and implementation, networking and advocacy in the programme area of CPiE, Civil Military relations and integrating child protection within the ICPAPSA project in close collaboration with relevant actors.

  • Be a member of the ICPAPSA Project Management Committee.

  • Collaborate and coordinate with regional Thematic Advisors in matters related to ICPAPSA and CPiE; ensuring technical excellence in related programs and other SCS supported regional/country programmes
