The opportunity
The Humanitarian Communications manager is part of the Humanitarian Surge Team (HST) and is resoonsible for producing all key communication assets that enable Save the Cildren to amplify its voice and speak out on behalf of children affected by emergencies.
The key responisbilities for the position are:
Plan, produce and deliver humanitarian communications content
Enhance humanitarian storytelling and drive innovation
Media communications
The post-holder is expected to deploy to Save the Children’s humanitarian responses, at least 30 weeks per year. In between deployments he/she will support the International Department in its communication work.
In order to be successful in this role you'll bring
Academic degree or equivalent experience in relevant area
Significant experience of working overseas in humanitarian programmes
Solid knowledge and use of media and multimedia platforms
Photography and video production, including post-production platforms (Adobe creative suite)
At least 2 years’ experience of working overseas in humanitarian programmes
Language skills in one or more of Save the Children’s working languages: Swedish, English
Excellent computer skills
Desirable qualifications are:
French, Arabic, Spanish or Portuguese; or others where relevant
Excellent relationship building skills in order to work for limited periods within programmes under pressure of running emergency responses
The capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure working circumstances.
