Role overview
The purpose of this job is to support the Teacher Development and management department (TDM REB) to write pre-primary reading guides for pre-primary teachers, pre-primary school leaders and parents for pre-primary kids. The guides are one of the deliverables for promoting Reading Enjoyment for Pre-primary kids! (PREP Kids!). This project aims at introducing reading to pre-primary kids.
Skills, qualifications and experience required
Essential
Internationally recognised qualification either Master's or Bachelor's Early Childhood - Degree minimum, education, linguistics, early grade reading
- Minimum five years of demonstrated experience working in improving early grade reading and/or pre-primary teaching
- Working in early childhood settings for a number of years - teaching and developing resources;
- Experience with community based development of Early Child Education services or centres;
- Experience in parental engagement in reading for kindergarten children
Allowance and accommodation
All volunteers have an allowance paid in local currency. The allowance meets reasonable living expenses in country, but will not be enough to send money home.
VSO works with some of the poorest communities in the world which means accommodation varies and will be basic.
