Role overview

To assure programme quality by providing quality support to livelihood core programme areas and signature programmes and ensure that VSO is learning from its own work and good practice globally in the sector. The Lead Adviser will oversee the implementation of the recommendations from a recent external review of VSO's livelihoods work.

Skills, qualifications and experience required

Experience of direct work in livelihoods in the South, with particular experience of resilience building, supporting research, planning and implementation of programmes at all levels. The candidate should have experience of implementing an assets and capabilities approach to livelihoods development. They should also have an understanding of current issues and trends in livelihoods and development, demonstrate skills and knowledge at equivalent level to a post-graduate qualification.

The candidate will provide leadership to VSO programming quality and learning in livelihoods and foster leadership in others; specifically overseeing VSO's livelihoods work and the implementation of recommendations from the 'Livelihoods Review'. This includes developing VSO's approach to resilience and how we apply a capabilities and assets approach to all livelihoods programming.How to apply
