Role overview

You will lead the Finance team. Reporting directly to the Country Director, you will be working with the other programme managers to deliver quality financial management and planning, and delivering the operational services required of the programme.

Lead in all financial matters in the VSO office including analysing and supporting decision making on risks Develop, maintain and review procedures in line with global policies for processing income, payments, payroll, monthly and year end accounting, bank and cash management Support the grant management process, produce donor reports, and internal management reports for programmes and the country operations as a whole and work with the programmes team closely to develop proposal bids for external funding Ensure files and systems are meticulously maintained, adhering to VSO and donor requirements. Play a central role in the VSO PNG Senior Management Team

In addition, you will be a role model in resource and risk management in managing the programme team's human resources and financial resources.

Skills, qualifications and experience required

You will be a fully qualified accountant with strong technical accounting skills. Skilled finance manager with knowledge of financial management of restricted donor funding, reporting, procurement procedure, grant management, grant equipment and donor rules and regulations for non-profit organisations.

You will have strong leadership experience in budget management (including project budgets), financial planning and analysis. Strong knowledge of internal financial controls and year-end procedure. Knowledge of Internal, External and Project Audit. You will bring to the post strong communication skills, attention to detail and analytical thinking.
